Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2014 Couture

I love couture fashion. To me, couture collections are always more like art than clothes. Ready-to-wear is what we live in; couture is what we dream about. Jean Paul Gaultier's Fall 2014 Couture collection is definitely a dream. Pictures supplied by Vogue.com - visit for full collection

I can't get over how much I love this dreamy look. The black tights and boots completely compliment this beautiful coat dress. It's so simple and yet so couture. I could actually see women wearing this look, and yet, when accompanied with the accessories and that fabulous hair, it seems other-worldly.

This look is pure fabulous. And you can tell that the model is totally working it! Leather isn't my favorite fabric, because I think it can go tacky very easily, but it was used so well here to make that fabulous fitted skirt that I actually love it. The juxtaposition of the fitted, slinky skirt with the large, flowy shoulders works perfectly. And making shoulders look flowy as well as structured? Genius.

Normally, I would look at this look and say "Poncho? Really?". But I'm not! I'm saying "Poncho...interesting!". This looks works, and to make a poncho-style jacket look flattering is no easy task, even on a model. Yet the proportion here makes it work; it's a good length, not too long and not too short. I also love the beading and the fabulously large button.

With this look, you could easily take off the head scarf and wear it to work - or even keep the scarf! It's fabulous; a slinky, well-fitted, sexy but still work-appropriate suit with leather shoulders. A solid yes.

I had to include this look simply for the collar. I mean, look at it. That is one of the most fabulous collars I've ever seen in my entire life. I love it.

What a cute dress! I love the use of fabric here; I never would have thought that putting together tulle, velvet, lace, white mesh, and leather would have worked. But it does. It's perfection.

Aside from the fabulous mix of fabrics and awesome make-up and hair, just look at that skirt. It's fabulous.

This jacket is absolutely beautiful. The tribal-esque pattern is incredibly in fashion right now, and I have to say, this is one of the best executions of it I've seen. It's subtle and elegant.

I love the way the red and black seem to mix together and yet neither is muddled. Also, the mix of fabrics has made another fabulous appearance!

Almost Grecian in its draping, the flow of this dress is both elegant and extremely sexy. And the spikes? Dangerously fabulous.

This gorgeous gown takes us place in time, to a time filled with decadence and grace. Are we in the Renaissance right now?

This dress is extremely sensual and yet also invokes a feeling of danger. The perfect outfit for any femme fatale!

Look at that skirt. It is perfection. Simply perfection.

The collection concludes with this beautiful, ethereal, angel-like ensemble. Light, flowing, and complete with wings, this is the perfect finale piece to a wonderful and fantasy-filled collection.

Michael Kors Resort 2015

The Resort 2015 collection from Michael Kors struck me as being a particularly wearable collection. While I love fashion that is more like art than actual clothing, it is also wonderful to see collections full of clothes that you could actually see yourself wearing. Light and airy, the following collection is completely ready to wear. Pictures supplied by Vogue.com - visit for full collection

I love all things pink, and that includes this fabulous ensemble. Simple, elegant, and chic, any of these pieces could easily be worn strolling down a street fair, relaxing on a beach, or while out at lunch with friends.

I am completely in love with this simple yet classy outfit. The skirt is a perfect length for most body types; not too short but not too long, it hits slightly above the knee. While flowy, the skirt is still structured enough to give the woman wearing it a defined shape. The top is simple, but the combination of the light blue shirt with the jacket completes this simple and sophisticated day-time look.

Though I never would have thought to pair a bikini, a blazer, and high wedges while planning a trip to the beach, I have to admit that it here it works pretty well. The fringed bikini is lovely, an ode to understated femininity. The blazer is a lovely shade of pink(!), which actually complements the bikini even as it covers some of it up. The shoes are fabulous, and tie in the bag perfectly as well.

This outfit is one of those rare combinations that gives off a cute feeling of youth while also being incredibly mature and sophisticated. The shorts are adorable, and pairing them with that oh-so-soft and light purple sweater was a work of genius. The bag is unique and interesting, and also, on its own, gives off the dual feelings of youth and maturity. Again, this outfit is so simple yet so effective.

This dress is utterly adorable and so, so chic. Lace is very in-style right now, and not just for wedding dresses; this dress proves that. The lace is a simple pattern that seems to blend together from a distance, but is revealed to be incredibly intricate and complicated upon closer inspection. The big buckles on the belt and shoes add a sense of masculinity and toughness to this very, very feminine and delicate dress.

Another simply adorable dress, this one is notable for its fun and flirty shape. Simple at the top and then flouncing out in a perfect a-line and ending mid-thigh, this dress would be perfect for a day out in the warm summer sun, or, perhaps with one of the many cardigans, jackets, or blazers also featured in this collection, a perfect get-up for a casual night out with friends. I'm a big fan of florals, and the little flowers on this dress pop on the black background to make this a super-fun and feminine look.

After a couple super-cute short numbers, I thought it would be nice to finish off my analysis of this collection with this beautiful and elegant maxidress. Like all the pieces in this collection by Michael Kors, this dress is simple and elegant and very, very feminine. It is definitely a "wow" piece that would make a statement at any lunch date, party, or family gathering during the hot summer months.

What's Right and Wrong with Rihanna's CFDA Dress

I'm sure many of you, if not all of you, have seen and/or read about Rihanna's choice for a dress at the CFDA Fashion Awards.

http://www.gq.com/style/blogs/the-gq-eye/Rihanna-CFDA-Dress-600.jpg

The dress, pictured above, has caused quite a stir because of the fact that it is completely see-through. Rihanna is definitely not leaving anything to the imagination in this dress, and for this reason it has caused some ridicule.

http://content.clearchannel.com/cc-common/mlib/11945/06/11945_1401981704.jpg

Personally, I have mixed feelings on this dress. The style of the dress, along with the accessories (the fur stole, the gloves, the earrings, etc.) is incredibly classic. Very reminiscent of old-Hollywood-era glamour, and is actually very sophisticated. I think Rihanna does an excellent job of pulling off this old-fashioned look.

I also admire the fact that Rihanna, in choosing to wear this dress, is demonstrating her comfort with her sexuality as well as her ability to wear a dress that is so revealing but still oozing class and sophistication. She doesn't look trashy because she isn't acting trashy. Therefore, she pulls off the look.

Yet there is still a part of me that questions why Rihanna felt the need to wear this dress. Rihanna is incredibly well-known and successful in the music industry, which she rightfully should be - she has a lot of talent. So then why did she feel like she had to wear such a revealing dress? Was it attention-seeking, a press stunt? Was she trying to fight against the growing popularity (and infamy) of Miley Cyrus, who skyrocketed into the spotlight after her performance at the VMAs? Is Rihanna trying to make a point about women's bodies and sexuality? Or is Rihanna wearing this dress simply because she likes it?

Seeing Rihanna wearing a dress like this saddens me on some level, because part of me worries that Rihanna is simply trying to fill the mold set for girls and women that tells them that sex appeal (specifically in reference to a woman's breasts) is the only valuable thing a woman can posses. Perhaps I am reading too much into this; I hope Rihanna simply liked the dress and felt good about wearing it.

In conclusion, Rihanna definitely rocked this dress. She carried it off with sophistication and grace; I only hope that she wore it for the right reasons.

Altuzarra Fall 2013 RTW

If there's one thing I love, it's fashion that makes women look sophisticated and chic. That's exactly what the most recent collection from Altuzarra has accomplished. The new line is gorgeous and classy, achieving the difficult task of making a woman look refined and attractive at the same time. Pictures supplied by Vogue.com - visit for full collection

This simple, classic suit has extra added fabric around the shoulders to create a little extra flair. Having a v-neck that isn't cut too low adds a seductive element without looking trashy.

This is similar to the first outfit but with a dress replacing the pantsuit. Simple and elegant, this look will naturally compliment any woman's body shape. The dress is tailored to emphasis the waist, and would add curves to a more slender woman while complimenting the curves on an hourglass figure.

This outfit is the definition of chic. The shape of the jacket is womanly without being over-the-top sexy. The shoes are also incredibly fabulous, and work perfectly with the skirt.

This white ensemble is chic and attractive. The jacket adds extra sophistication, while its removal can allow for a woman to go out looking gorgeous and sensual. The slit is a perfect addition to emphasis a woman's legs without being too high up the leg.

This outfit would work perfectly in a variety of workplace settings. Whether a woman works at a magazine, in an office, or somewhere more straight-laced, such as a bank. The shape is relaxed and natural, and simultaneously exudes an air of high class; it looks expensive in the best way possible. The shoes are also gorgeous - I am seriously considering purchasing a pair!

I love this outfit. Beige has a reputation of being a somewhat boring color, but here it really pops. The button placement is also perfect to highlight the more favorable parts of a woman's body. The jacket is a good length, and I am in love with its shape; it'll perfectly compliment a woman's physique. The slit is classy and allows for a range of movement in a skirt that is so well-fitted. The shoes here are also incredibly fabulous.

This is a wonderful dress to wear for a night out. Perfect for first dates! This dress shows the wearer off in the best possible way. The slit in the leg and the v-neck are the perfect length for exuding class and sophistication without looking at all trashy. Simple and beautiful.

I love the use of white and black in this outfit; plus the leather jacket looks classy, which is very hard to do with leather! The low-slung belt elongates a woman's torso and slims the hips. The straight-leg pants are classy, as usual.

Normally I'm not a huge fan of fur, but it works well here. The shape of the shirt's neckline is unusual and flattering. Plus the fur sleeves look elegant. This outfit seems like something a bond girl might wear, because it's classy, compliments the body, and seems incredibly bad-ass!

I absolutely love the way the black shape on the white background of the dress emphasizes the hourglass shape of a woman's body. This is such a simple dress, but so classy and elegant. This epitomizes the feel of the entire collection, which is an excellent example of the blend between sophistication and sexiness.

2012 Grammy Awards

Exactly a week ago today, the most important night in music occurred: The Grammy Awards. However, there was more than just the incredible performances by Adele and Jennifer Hudson (whose tribute to Whitney Houston was breathtaking!). There was, of course, the fashion. Fabulous and not-so-fabulous ensembles ran rampant on this night of glamour, and here's my own personal opinion. Here we go!

Let us begin with one of the most outrageous: Nicki Minaj. Though I love her music and admire her for being one of the only current successful female rappers, this outfit was...wow. What was she thinking? Nicki is known for her craziness, which I admire, but...what?

http://obama.net/wp-content/gallery/2012-grammy-red-carpet-outfits/nicki-minaj-grammys-2012.jpg

Was she trying to convey a message of some kind, or was she just trying to create a stir? Either way, this was a one-of-a-kind outfit. I don't want to completely bash it; it's definitely dramatic, well-made, and the color looks fantastic on her. I'm just personally a fan of the classic gown, so, needless to say, this will not become an addition to my wardrobe.

http://x17online.com/grammys2012fergie.jpg

Now on to Miss Fergalicious Fergie. I love her and the Black Eyed Peas very very much. If you haven't heard it yet, I recommend "The Best One Yet", which is catchy and fun. But this outfit...ouch. Fergie is great shape, which is the only way she pulled this off. I mean, I'm a little old-fashioned in the sense that I think underwear should not be the main focal point of your outfit. The color and cut of the dress is very nice and complimentary to Fergie, and there's nothing wrong with the pattern either. I just don't like the black bra and panties showing. Sorry.

http://www.thedailytruffle.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/anne-v-adam-levine-grammys-2012.jpg

I don't think anyone will be surprised by my comments on Anne V's dress here. Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon Five, looks very classy and posh in his well-tailored suit. But Anne?

http://i1-news.softpedia-static.com/images/news2/Grammys-2012-Worst-Dressed-of-the-Night-3.jpg

It goes without saying that Anne V is gorgeous. I love her beachy waves in her pretty blonde hair as well as her pretty, classy high heels. It's the dress that bothers me. She's got a great body and clearly wants to show it off, which is completely fine; but not like this. It sort of looks like she grabbed a bolt of fabric that wasn't big enough to cover her and wrapped it randomly around herself and then safety-pinned it. It is too revealing for a prestigious event like the Grammy's. I just don't like it.

http://l.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/0ZhBH5PmFxF3yY0aW0.NCw--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7Zmk9aW5zZXQ7aD04MzA7cT04NTt3PTYzMA--/http://l.yimg.com/os/289/2012/02/13/katy-perry-grammys-2012-jpg_010307.jpg

I don't think this dress does anything for Katy Perry. I think she looks a lot thicker in the waist than she actually is, and it clashes with her hair as well. It wouldn't be terrible without the ribbon waistband, because the color is quite nice. The style is pretty if it were fitted a little bit better. Not the worst, but not the best.

http://www.adivastateofmind.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Carrie-Underwood-2012-Grammys.jpg

I love this dress. I think Carrie Underwood is really flattered by the style of it, as well as the color and fabric. I also really like her simple but classic hairstyle and simple black clutch.

http://wedding-pictures-03.onewed.com/26752/carrie-underwood-grammys-2012-wedding-dress-inspiration__full.jpg

The dress moves really nicely as well, which is important. I'm all for simple outfits, but I'm also a fan of glamour. This dress is the perfect blend of simplicity and glamour. I think Carrie scored a ten out of ten here for outfit, hair, and accessory choice.

http://i.huffpost.com/gen/497372/ADELE-GRAMMYS-2012-RED-CARPET-DRESS.jpg

I'll conclude my article with the fabulous Adele. She's not a skinny girl, yet she, in my opinion, won the best dressed award. This gown is simple, shapely, and glamorous. The color is beautiful on her and very classic Grammy's. The pop of red lips adds a little extra flare without being over the top. Not only did she sweep with Grammy wins, but in my opinion, Adele was by far the best dressed at Grammy's 2012. Can't wait 'till next year!

Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 Collection

The latest collection from Louis Vuitton is pure femininity. The models posed on a completely white carousel runway, which took all the viewers to a another world. Marc Jacobs has truly outdone himself, with the fabulously flowy and feminine textures, the original yet classic patterns, and the sensational silhouettes made for a one-of-a-kind collection. Pictures supplied by Vogue.com - visit for full collection
I adore this little peach dress. Seeing it immediately made me think of old-fashioned summer afternoons, when the upper class rich folk would while away their time sitting on the front porch drinking lemonade and discussing the latest local gossip. The elegance this simple ensemble has is truly remarkable considering that it is really a classic design that could read boring.

I simply had to analyze this dress because I loves its shape. I really want to put it on and wear it all the time, because it looks like it would be so comfortable yet magical, and I could feel like a princess from a far-away kingdom! Really though, this dress is incredibly wearable and sellable while still being in the highest of high fashion, and I love the shoes as well.

This is, at first glance, a simple dress; yet the detailing, especially around the collar, is absolutely divine. This is one of those outfits that takes your breath away, yet is perfect to wear to work at the same time. Jacobs has done an excellent job, with this dress and his entire Spring 2012 collection, of making wearable yet fantastical clothes. I also love the shoes and the tiara!

I am completely, head-over-heels in love with this entire outfit. I think that the color palate is an amazing, and very happy (appropriate for spring, don't you think?). I cannot even express how in love I am with the 3-D flowers covering the skirt. How fabulous are those? All in all, I am at a complete loss for how to describe how much I love this outfit from head-to-toe. Just gorgeous.

This is another ensemble that makes me at a loss for words. The colors are, again, AMAZING, and (be warned, I will repeat myself a lot) the 3-D flowers are just...genius!!! I love this dress's shape, and the fantasy that one gets while looking at it. Completely feminine and totally fabulous!!

Again with the 3-D flowers! I apologize greatly for sounding like a broken record, but I cannot get over how great that flower detailing looks. It's magic, really it is. This is such a perfect outfit for any woman to wear for numerous occasions, ranging as far as the workplace to a fancy luncheon. Love it, love it, love it!

This gown-like cocktail dress is a fairy-tale fantasy in fabric. The colors and their placement was done with the eye of a master, and again, this outfit is simple yet incredibly elegant! The flower detailing mixed with the feather detailing has the danger of looking too overdone and overworked, but since Marc Jacobs is a complete genius as chicness, this outfit looks as easy and breezy as a Covergirl model (by the way, Covergirl is one of my all-time my FAV-orite make-up brands). I also adore the tiara!

I decided to complete my analysis with the collection's closing look, this little adorable dress that could easily be worn by women of all ages and sizes. I love how Jacobs played with volume here to make it fun, yet also kept a conservative vibe to keep regal-ness and elegance going throughout the look. Simple, feminine, and an utter show-stopper, this look (and its collection) will be remembered for a long, long time. (I also love the shoes!)

Feel free to comment on this collection and share your opinions. A big thanks to Vogue.com, which provided me with each picture. If you're interested in the rest of this collection, or in anything else fashion-wise, I recommend visiting Vogue.com.
